It's a MEET-UP!!!

It's a meet up...Missouri style!!:) We are so excited to finally plan a meet up! We can't wait to meet a few wonderful blogging friends and share a few laughs and maybe...a couple ideas!:) If you are in Missouri (or...feel like a drive) we would LOVE to have you join us!!! We are BACK!!!

WOW...so once again we have been crazy busy with school and our little blog has been neglected!! We have made a promise that we are going to be better about this!! We hope that everyone has enjoyed the long weekend and you were able to relax and enjoy the last little bit of summer!! The four of us have been busy... Marsha and Lori spent the weekend with their families at the lake, Kaybeth celebrated the wedding of her son ( can't wait to hear about it and see pics) and me...well not so fun!! I spent the weekend cleaning! Like....crazy women cleaning! My kids and husband tried to avoid me for fear of what I would have them clean next! Anyways...after a few days it's done and who doesn't love a clean house!!:)
We are back into our routines at school...well almost!! We forget how long procedures take for Kindergartners!!!  We are still practicing our WBT procedures and let's just say we are loving it!! We are all learning as we go but we are excited to see what the year brings!
In between practicing and practicing some more we have accomplished a few things! We thought we would share!!

We are loving our ABC sing pack!!! We use Fundations to teach letters and sounds but this pack fits in nicely with it! After we introduce the letter we are working on for that week, we introduce the poem that goes with each letter. We start out whole group, then move to independent practice!! It is a great way to get started on tracking and one to one!!

So there you have it...a quick peek at a few things!! We are off to enjoy the last bit of this 3 day weekend!! We hope you have a wonderful week...only 4 days!!:)

It's BACK TO SCHOOL time and a SALE!!

Hi there friends...sorry for the absence! We have been crazy busy preparing for the beginning of the year! We started this past Wednesday! Let's just say...we are tired! Like...barely walking, order pizza for dinner, bed at 8:00 tired!!! And...it was only 2 1/2 days! What are we going to do this week...5 days!!:( Anyways we are off and running!
What an adventure the beginning of the year is for everyone...especially in KINDERGARTEN!! Seriously...some of our little sweeties are not even sure how to hold scissors not to mention walking in a straight line or writing their names!! But...that makes it all the more exciting at the end of the year when we see just how far they have come! Keep your eyes on the progress and the end results! Next week we will begin our assessments...what an interesting time that is!:)

Ok. Ok...if you follow Kindergarten Smorgasboard you know all about the spider in the toilet!! If not...you really should follow him because let me tell you....he has some AMAZING ideas! You can read his blog entry about the spider here. So yes...I drew a spider in the toilet! Let me tell you...the boys love it! And...not one of them has missed the target! Hello to a dry floor!! YES....I can't believe it has taken all these years to discover something so simple! Thanks Kindergarten Smorgasboard!!

A Little Shopping Linky and Decor Packs

So...we are a little depressed after reading and looking at the pictures of how much fun everyone had in Vegas last week! Let's just say...WE WILL BE THERE NEXT YEAR!!!:) It looks like everyone had such a great time!

So...while everyone has been kicking back having fun Vegas style....we have been working and wondering where the summer is going?? Seriously...how is it already time to think about back to school!! However...with back to school comes...SHOPPING!! We just have to share some steals we  found! Can you say 80% off at Hobby Lobby!! That make us smile!!

Ok...these are not from Hobby Lobby but the Dollar Tree and the baskets are from Big Lots!!! I love these sand buckets and maybe we will use them as little trash cans and as pencil containers.

How cute are these....Hobby Lobby!! I think we will "flip-flop" through a good book in the reading center!! Best part...they were like $2.00 each!! Score!:)

Love the flip-flops....I plan to put them on the wall with the big flip flops and maybe on our door..."Look Who's Flip-Flopping into Kindergarten!! So the fish table...adorable and $3.00 WOOTWOOT!!! The big bucket...not sure what I am doing yet...however for $5 had to have it!! Any ideas...I thought about covering up where it says drinks and using it to hold my read aloud books for the week!!

We all know that one of the first things you work on in Kindergarten are names. We created this awesome pack that ties literature that we read at the beginning of the year to teaching kids how to spell their names! It is packed with some favorites! We are so excited to start this year with this pack!!:)

Throwback Thursday and Happy 4th!!

Happy 4th of July Friends!!

Before we head off to spend the day with our friends and families we wanted to get in on Throwback Thursday from our sweet blogging friend Cara Carroll at First Grade Parade!

We also wanted to share a few new products that we have been busy creating to help get ready for back to school!! We know, we know...who is even ready to think about that??? 

First, we added a few more word wall packs...:) They include all the Dolch Word lists k-3. They include 2 different size word cards and letter header cards perfect for your word wall or to make flashcards for review!!

We also finished up our Alphabet Sing and Read...
we love this!:)
 This pack includes one colored poster of the song for each letter of the alphabet (tune:  Bingo); a reader for each letter of the alphabet (includes dots for tracking, a letter coloring page, a writing page, and a sound sorting page); and pocket chart strips for each letter of the alphabet.  The pocket chart strips are used for each letter with cards to trade out the animal and letter.  Separate strips are included for the sound part of the song.  This packet includes 3 cards for each letter sound that can be used in the pocket chart to change the song or they could be used for sorting by beginning sound.

Now for the Throwback...We have not been blogging very long so it is a bit of a challenge to "throwback." This is from about April. We had the opportunity to participate in a Relay Recess at school. What a wonderful event and very near and dear to us since we had 2 little Kindergarten friends that have been dealing with this horrible disease!

Relay Recess... Play-day with a PURPOSE!!

This week we had the wonderful, heartwarming and very emotional experience of Relay Recess which is part of the American Cancer Society. It is similar to Relay for Life but it is geared for school age children. For the past 4 months, our school has partnered with the Cancer Society to raise money to help find a cure for Cancer. In the short period we were able to raise $3400!!! How AWESOME is that??? Each grade level had the opportunity to participate in the Relay Recess and learn different ways to prevent cancer. The whole program itself is very emotional, as we all know  someone that has been affected by cancer. But, for us, it was even more because we currently have 2 little sweeties in our grade level that are fighting this horrible disease! Throughout the year we have seen first hand the strength of kids and their families.What a wonderful way to honor them and their courage! It was a day that will not soon be forgotten! If you ever have the opportunity to be part of the wonderful experience, we encourage you to do so! :)
